What to do when you feel overwhelmed.

Life can throw us so many curveballs at times that you can feel overwhelmed. This is especially difficult if you are already trying to recover from trauma.  When your time, energy, and resources are focused on resolving the situation or just getting free from it, what do you do when another curveball is thrown at you? Especially when everybody else seems to be living their best life and are always busy.

Here are some things that can help:

1. Seek spiritual help. Praying is like breathing to me. I can honestly say I am worse off without it.

2. Write down a list of everything that's causing you stress. Prioritize the most important tasks and break them down into smaller, more manageable steps.

3. Take a break from social media and technology to give your brain a rest.

4. Reach out to a friend or family member for support and a listening ear.

5. Make time for physical exercise or outdoor activities that help release endorphins, like walking or running.

6. Seek professional help from a therapist or counsellor.

Well, this is a time to be especially kind, patient, and good to yourself.  In the absence of people, it is especially important to really celebrate small wins. For example, in your busy schedule if you managed to tick off something on your to do list, treat yourself for it. It can look as simple as treating yourself to your favourite food, going to your favourite place to relax, or doing something that makes you feel happy.

If you know certain people around you tend to draw from you and are very negative, maybe in this time do not contact them or be around them.  Also, you may need to think are these people the right people to be in your life at this moment in time.

Remember to continue to say nice things about yourself however small it may seem.

Avoid staying indoors for very long periods of time especially when the sun is out.

Be good to yourself.
